Malawi Congress Party (MCP) and its bedfellow United Transformation Movement (UTM) have resolved to seek court intervention on refusal of the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) Chairperson Dr. Jane Ansah to resign for failing to manage the May 21, 2019 Presidential polls.

The two parties have also declared March 27 as a day of rage as one way of showing President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika and Ansah that Malawians are not happy with MEC commissioners.

This has been disclosed in media briefing currently underway in the capital Lilongwe headed by UTM Publicity Secretary Joseph Chidanti Malunga.

“We have asked our lawyers to go to court to seek if commissioners are fit to continue holding office. President Mutharika is incompetent as he has refused assenting to electoral reforms bill, arrest of HRDC leaders and inviting Israelis in the country,” said Malunga when reading the statement.
