Malawi Congress Party (MCP) and its bedfellow United Transformation Movement (UTM) have hinted that the two parties will take part in fresh Presidential polls despite pushing for the immediate resignation of Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) Chairperson Jane Ansah.

The two parties said this during a joint media briefing currently underway in the capital Lilongwe.

“If there are people out there doing things deliberately just to frustrate us then they are lying because we will take part in the elections. We will not boycott but we do feel this MEC will not be there when we go to the polls,” said UTM Publicity Secretary Joseph Chidanti Malunga.

According to Malunga, the two parties have since instructed their legal teams to challenge the move by MEC chairperson Jane Ansah and her fellow commissioners to continue running the affairs of the Commision despite that they were found to be incompetent.
