As the country is commemorating World TB day today, National TB Control Programme has asked Malawians to get tested for the disease.

Deputy Programme Manager of the National TB Control Programme, Isaa’c Dambe, said the disease is easily treated during early stages hence the need for people to get tested and begin treatment immediately in confirmation of attack.

He also commended the role of community volunteers in fighting against Tuberculosis in the country which has led to an increased number of people who are screened and treated once found positive.

Dambe observed that the TB treatment success rate is good in Malawi as 87 percent of patients are being cured from the disease every year.
