A Ntchisi businessman has lost property worth K28 million after an angry mob suspected him of being behind the murder of a 38-year-old man.

The body of one Eckrem Chaguza, who was killed by unknown people, was on March 26, found in a pool of blood at Mawiri Primary School in Traditional Authority Chilooko’s area in the district.

Ntchisi Police Public Relations Officer, Richard Kaponda said the community members from the area started suspecting Moffat Ntchita, a prominent business man at Nine Miles Trading Centre.

He said the community members then mobilized themselves on March 27 and went to his compound where they burnt a building and other property including two cars, all valued at K28 million.

According to Kaponda, no arrests have since been made but investigations are underway to arrest the culprits.

Barely a day after the incident, an angry mob also torched Malomo Police Unit in the district over allegations blood suckers.
