Outgoing Human Right Defenders Coalition (HRDC) Chairperson Timothy Mtambo has endorsed the electoral alliance of the main opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP) of Dr. Lazarus Chakwera and United Transformation Movement (UTM) of Dr. Saulos Chilima.

Mtambo said this during a media briefing in the capital Lilongwe currently underway where he has also announce the formation of a new movement called “The Citizens for Transformation, People Power.”

“Fellow Malawians I’ve had time reflect on what has been happening in our country. I’ve done an assessment & concluded that the future of this country will remain the same if we let DPP & UDF rule this country. These parties have failed Malawi.

“I endorse UTM &MCP alliance. We do not waste time. We’re not here to create parallel structures but give credit to those already on the ground,” said Mtambo.

Mtambo has further appealed to Malawians not to vote for the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) of President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika in the forthcoming fresh Presidential polls scheduled for July 2, 2020.
