Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) northern region governor Christopher Mzomera Ngwira has criticized Church of Central of Africa Presbyterian (CCAP) Livingstonia Synod for endorsing United Transformation Movement (UTM) and Malawi Congress Party (MCP) alliance.
After UTM and MCP sealed their electoral deal alliance, a number of stakeholders applauded the move including the leadership of Livingstonia Synod which asked its members to support the alliance.
Speaking during a press briefing on Tuesday Ngwira said what the leadership of the church is doing is misleading followers of the church.
Ngwira accused the Synod’s General Secretary Levi Nyondo and Moderator Douglas Chipofya for taking a leading role in endorsing UTM-MCP alliance.
The governor further called on the two to resign from church activities and be full time politicians saying they are embarrassing the church.
