A group of vendors in Mangochi has, a while ago, petitioned the District Council against a government decision for a national lockdown beginning mid-night Saturday.

The leader of the group, Madalitso Kalipinde, said the vendors cannot survive the 21-day lockdown unless government provided cushion in form of money or food.

But District Commissioner, Reverend Moses Chimphepo, told the group that it had gone to knock on the wrong door.

He said the vendors should have handed their petition at the town council.
