The Founder and Managing Director for General Vision Screen Printers Comrade Dr Feston Kaphanya has urged the government to urgently provide medical equipment to health personnel as they lack equipment and find a place for quarantine rather than lockdown.
He was reacting to President’s directive for the country to have 21 days lockdown to avoid the further spread of the Corona virus from Saturday 18 mid night to May 9 mid night.
He said Malawians cannot afford to say at home for 21 days as they do their daily business like selling Tomatoes, Vegetables, Bananas and Fish.
“People in the country depend much on daily basis for selling like selling groundnuts, sugarcane, Tomatoes, Vegetables for 21 days so 21 days is a long period,” he said, adding that even fridge cannot keep food for such long period.
Kaphanya further said in Zambia where the Covid-19 started before Malawi they is no lockdown so why in Malawi this lockdown can destroy the country’s economy.
General Vision Screen Printers Boss also said corona Virus came because of committing sins and once repented God can forgive us and not depending much on the views of scientists.
On providing basic needs to people during the lockdown period Kaphanya observed that the government cannot afford to feed the whole nation.
