State House has trashed calls by Vice President Saulos Chilima on inclusion of opposition leaders in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, saying he want to gain political mileage.

On Sunday, Chilima observed that there was loss of public trust on the information released by government on Coronavirus, saying this will lead to destruction as people my ignore important information.

Chilima went further by asking President Mutharika to work with the opposition in the fight against the pandemic.

But Mutharika’s Press officer Mgeme Kalilani said Chilima’s remarks are not sincere.

“He just wants to score a political mileage,” said Kalilani.

Kalilani accused Chilima and other opposition leaders of telling their followers to disregard preventive messages.

Malawi has so far recorded 36 cases of Coronavirus with three deaths.
