President for Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Lazarus Chakwera has resigned from his position as Member of Parliament for Lilongwe North West Constituency, Face of Malawi can reveal.
Assistant Clerk of Parliament Leornad Mengezi has confirmed the development.
According to Mengezi, Chakwera rendered his resignation on Monday.
On Wednesday, Chakwera is expected to present his nomination papers to Malawi Electoral Commission ahead of July 2 fresh presidential elections.
