DPP Regional Governor for the north Christopher Mzomera Ngwira has justified the failure by President Peter Mutharika to visit the north since the 2019 elections saying, it is due to security concerns.
The Governor made the remarks during a Democratic progressive Party (DPP) and United Democratic Front (UDF) parade in Mzuzu in readiness for their rally scheduled for Mzuzu Upper Stadium this coming Sunday
Ngwira says there have been continued violent protests in the region which would have compromised the security of the head of state.
He added that Mutharika will be visiting the north soon.
President Peter Mutharika visited north last year in April during campaign period for 2019 tripartite elections.
He won the presidential race and sworn in but he is yet to visit the north.
