Karonga district is expected to have a coronavirus testing laboratory to cater for people entering into the country from Tanzania.
This follows revelations that 10 of the new patients of coronavirus are those coming from Tanzania.
These include truck drivers, transporters and business people who use the Songwe border.
The laboratory will be situated at the Malawi Epidemiology and Intervention Research Unit at Chilumba in the district.
Malawi has so far registered a total of 70 confirmed cases, in which 40 are active cases, 27 have recovered and three people have died.
