Malawi has received eight more  bodies of its citizens who died in South Africa on Sunday bringing the number of deaths related to the Covid-19 lockdown in that country to 24 in three weeks.

Mwanza Immigration Spokesperson Pasqually Zulu said the formation received eight bodies of people who were murdered, died of natural causes and died in road accidents in the past week.

Sixteen other bodies were received in two different days a week before.

Zulu said medical personnel at Mwanza Border has released only four out of the eight bodies that came on Sunday evening.

“The other bodies were not released because medical personnel were still conducting postmortem to make sure that their deaths are not related to the Covid-19 pandemic,” he said.

Among the eight bodies that came of Sunday, five are from Mzimba, two from Kasungu and one is from Rumphi.
