Despite strict restrictions on public gathering in order to wind out the viral pandemic, a 27-year-old man allegedly hosted his birthday party with several guests at Manjargaon village in Maharashtra’s Jalna district on Monday.
To have a unique birthday party, the man allegedly used a sword to cut the cake. The photographs of the party went viral on social media platforms.
The incident took place within the territorial jurisdiction of Badnapur Police. Taking cognizance of the viral photographs on social media, a team of police officials was deputed to the spot on Tuesday.
Officials arrested the accused, identified as Sachin Tukaram Arsud and booked 18 other people, who were present at the party, for violating lockdown norms.
According to a report of The Times of India, the accused posted photographs of the birthday party on social media for expressing gratitude to his friends for attending the event.
The police officials were shocked to notice the assembly of young men to celebrate the birthday with a sword. Moreover, none of them were wearing masks or adhering to social distancing norms.
The cake and motorcycle that was used for cutting the cake have been seized by the police.
Last month, an FIR was lodged against the mahant of Maharashtra’s Tujla Bhawani temple for celebrating his birthday in community gathering despite lockdown restrictions.
The event was attended by scores of people, who absolutely paid no heed to various precautionary measures such as social distancing or mask-wearing. A similar incident was reported from Karnataka where BJP MLA M Jayaram celebrated his birthday with scores of supporters.
