Edmonton, Canada: A little girl was stabbed to death by the friend of her mother hours after she made a drawing of him to raise his spirits as he was struggling with personal issues, reports say.

7-year-old Bella Rose Desrosiers died last Monday night after her mom, Melissa, put her to sleep. According to her, Bella was later attacked by David Michael Moss, who has been charged with second-degree murder by police, as per CBC.

According to Melissa, David was unwell and she persuaded him to stay at her home while recovering. Meanwhile, Bella tried to cheer him up.

The mom-of-two said she intended to take the 34-year-old tattooist to a hospital after she tucked her little girls in bed.

But later that night, while she was saying goodnight to Bella and 4-year-old Lily, David had entered the room holding scissors.

The horrified mother said her friend charged at Bella with the sharp object as she watched in horror, and there was nothing she could do to stop him.

The police made a statement saying:

“It was reported that Moss stabbed the child in front of her mother. The mother tried to intervene and attempted CPR until paramedics arrived on scene”

Little Bella was pronounced dead on the scene and David was put under arrest.

Adding to the pain, Melissa said her husband and the father of her precious girl, Ben, had committed suicide last year. They had been married for 9 years.

“What I ask you to focus on, is the beautiful little girl my Bella Rose was and still is,” the devastated mother said in a statement. “Like her father, she had a huge kind heart that truly enjoyed life.”

Melissa’s neighbor, Gord Brenned, referred to the situation as “heartbreaking.”

“Hopefully everything gets sorted out and Melissa and her youngest daughter can find some sense of normalcy in their life,” he told CBC.

“With how many things that have gone on for them in the past year, I don’t know how that ever happens.”
