Parliament is expected to start deliberations for the 2020/21 National Budget from June 5 to July 24.

Speaker of the National Assembly, Catherine Gotani Hara, has confirmed of the development in an interview with the press.

According to Hara, the Business Committee of the House was meeting to discuss modalities of adhering to Covid-19 preventive measures which will be made public.

She also said the Committee will decide on other issues to be tabled in the house during the meet.

Initially, Parliament was scheduled to reconvene earlier this month but the house was postponed due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 which resulted to President Peter Mutharika imposing a lockdown.

But the lockdown failed due to an injunction obtained by Human Right Defenders Coalition (HRDC) led by its new chairperson Gift Trapence.
