It was a miraculous escape for Kapil Marakana, who was buried alive by his attackers in Rajkot district of Gujarat.
The 30-year-old victim, who works at a dairy, was first kidnapped, brutally thrashed, and then buried alive in the sand all over an old suspected financial fraud.
To his efforts and luck, Marakana wriggled out to safety and ran for his life to a policeman, who finally rescued him.
As per a report in Times of India, the incident took place on Sunday night near the Gondol town of Rajkot district. Meanwhile, police have detained the three accused identified as Arvind Bambhava, Ravi Vakatar, and Chandu Bharwad on Monday.
According to police, the initial probe suggests that the three accused tried to kill Marakana as a result of an old financial dispute between the victim and Arvind.
The dispute dates back to when Marakana used to work at a dairy owned by Arvind Bambhava. Arvind suffered huge losses in the dairy business and was forced to sell it to another person around 6 months ago.
Arvind accused Marakana of siphoning off funds during his employment and causing losses.
Arvind then hatched a plan along with two other friends to teach Marakana a lesson. The trio kidnapped the victim and took him to a sand stockyard near Gondol.
The accused first thrashed Marakana with batons and then tied his hands and legs. He was later hauled near a sand stock and buried until he lay motionless in the dune leaving him to die.
Later, the three men retreated to a nearby place to enjoy their ‘success’.
Marakana tried furiously to wriggle out of the sand and managed to rescue himself and run. However, he was spotted by the three men who then started to chase him.
The victim then reached near Gondol sub-jail seeking help from a policeman. The three accused who were chasing Marakana saw this and fled from the spot. Later, the three men were detained in the night.
