Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) is hoping that the National Assembly will set a fixed date for fresh presidential elections once it starts its meetings.

The remarks come at a time the house is expected to start its meeting this Friday, June 5 where top agenda is deliberating and passing the 2020/2019 national budget.

HRDC also added that the house will handle the elections matter with urgency during all the meetings.

“Malawians are looking forward to cast their votes within the 150 days set by the courts,” HRDC.

The Supreme Court of Appeal agreed with the Constitutional Court that the May 21, 2019 presidential elections were not properly managed hence sanctioned that there should be fresh elections.

June 23 was proposed as a day Malawians will go to polls.
