Good governance commentator Makhumbo Munthali said that there is nothing surprising in the tribal ranting’s made by Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) legislator for Machinga South East Constituency Fyness Magonjwa.

In a video clip circulating on social media, the youngest Member of Parliament (MP) is heard warning chiefs not to dare invite or attend political rallies organized by opposition parties in her constituency.

According to Magonjwa, lomwe’s and Yao’s are the same hence a need to vote for people who come from the said tribes.

Writing on I Facebook page Munthali said what the legislator did is only promoting her party’s misguided values.

“I am surprised that you are surprised at that 20 year old DPP Machinga MP’s tribal ranting’s. The girl is simply promoting her party’s misguided values,” Writes Munthali.

The youthful human rights defender added that it will not be surprising to see President Peter Mutharika appointing Magonjwa a ministerial position.

“I will not be surprised that after watching such a video clip the party president (who is also the Care-taker President of Malawi) will be too delighted to the extent of rewarding the youthful Parliamentarian with a Ministerial position,” he said.

Mixed reactions have been shared over the remarks made by Magonjwa over her tribalism remarks.
