Running-mate for Democratic Progressive Party (DPP)- United Democratic Front (UDF) Atupele Muluzi has condemned acts of violence and the shooting of two people in Machinga.

Few weeks ago the state vice president Saulos Chilima was blocked by suspected DPP/UDF supporters on his way to conduct whistle-stops in the district of which chaotic scenes erupted.

Following the ugly scenes, the security personnel who were protecting Chilima used force to disperse people which saw two people injured.

Writing on his Facebook page, Muluzi demanded that an independent body should investigate the matter adding that he is seeking the truth as evidence on the ground shows use of live ammunitions.

The young Muluzi further added that Chilima claimed not to have reached to the said place where the incident took place but questions “so who were the police protecting?”

Muluzi went on question why the doctor who treated the boy who is said to have been shot did not submit his report.

On the contrary, police in Machinga have refuted claims that there was the use of live ammunitions saying the two were hit by teargas canisters.
