Police in Dedza have arrested Matthews Mvenya for allegedly accusing police officers of being the bloodsuckers.
Mvenya who was coming from unknown destination met police officers at Airfield location within Dedza Township.
According to Sergeant Cassim Manda Dedza police station deputy publicist, when the suspect met the police officers, he started insulting them by calling them as the bloodsuckers.
Police officers tried to reason with him that they were not bloodsuckers but he insisted calling them to be behind the said acts of bloodsucking.
Folloiwing the incident, the police officers arrested him and took him to the police station.
Meanwhile, Dedza Police Station has branded ongoing rumours of bloodsucking vampires as purely mass hysteria that do not exist.
Mvenya hails from Kapesi village in the area of traditional authority Kachere in Dedza district.
