Information reaching Faceofmalawi indicates that some youth cadets for the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) cadets attacked lawyers who were protesting in Mzuzu.
Lawyers organized national wide protests to express their anger over government’s recent directive that the Chief Justice Andrew Nyirenda and his deputy Justice Edward Twea should go on forced leave ahead of the fresh presidential election next week.
In Mzuzu, the protest started from Katoto Ground to Mzuzu High Court where protesters presented a petition.
When dispersing, protesters met armed DPP cadets who started manhandling them.
Police had to fire teargas to disperse the said cadets.
However, the DPP cadets overpowered the law enforces forcing them to retreat to their camp thus leaving the said cadets who are armed with panga knives roaming around the streets of Mzuzu.
