Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) has said 50+1 will be used in determining the winner in the fresh Presidential polls slated for tomorrow, Tuesday, 23, 2020.

MEC Chairperson Dr. Chifundo kachale disclosed this during a media briefing held at the electoral body’s main tally centre at College of Medicine in Blantyre.

Kachale said MEC is hold the fresh Presidential polls following a court order and that whatever the court ordered including determining the results based on 50+1 will be followed.

He then urged Malawians to remain calm and at the same time support the electoral body in the fresh polls by reporting any suspicious dealings.

Kachale also warned Malawians to stop spreading false rumours on the social media regarding rigging clams.

Malawi will tomorrow go to fresh Polls following the nullification of the May 21, 2019 Presidential polls which saw President Peter Mutharika being declared winner.

Mutharika will face Dr. Lazarus chakwera of Tonse Alliance and Peter Kuwani of Mbakuwaku Movement for Development (MMD).

Meanwhile all is set for the fresh polls.
