According to the National police spokesperson James Kadazera, voting has started with no chaotic incidents in all polling centres across the country.
Meanwhile, Kadazera has confirmed that police yesterday arrested some people in Nkhotakota and Salima districts over electoral malpractices.
He says the suspects are in custody of Malawi Defense Force in Salima.
The police have also confirmed reports of some alleged party monitors who have been blocked from leaving Malawi Institute of Management MIM (cross-check the name) in Lilongwe, after being suspected by civilians that they want to tamper with elections.
Kadadzera is among notable faces at Goliati Primary School in Thyolo where President Peter Mutharika is also due to vote.
Present at the center is also presidential advisor on religious affairs Apostle Timothy Khoviwa as well as District Commissioner for Thyolo Justin Kathumba.
Acting Inspector General of Police Dancan Mwapasa is also expected to arrive at the centre.
