A 23-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself at her residence in North Mumbai’s Kandivali locality on Saturday. The deceased was an aspiring medical student. Police have recovered a suicide note which blames one of her close friends for her extreme step.

The now-deceased girl’s mother had passed away in 2004. She used to reside with her father and two elder brothers in a chawl in Kandivali East under the territorial jurisdiction of Samta Nagar Police. She completed her schooling in 2015. Since then she had been trying to secure an admission in a medical college.

According to a report by Mumbai Mirror, the now-deceased girl was found hanging from a hook on the ceiling by one of her brothers. He immediately informed other family members.

They brought the body down and gave a call to the police. A team of police officials arrived at the scene and sent the body to Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Hospital for autopsy after carrying out a panchnama.

The girl’s suicide note mentioned that she had been stressed for the last four years because of her close friend Hrithik Mishra. She stated that she couldn’t get admission to a medical college because of Mishra.

She said that Mishra had promised that he would marry her but later decided to marry somebody else. Further, the girl mentioned the phone number of Mishra and names of three people, who were apparently aware of their relationship.

An offence of abetment of suicide under IPC Section 306 has been registered against Mishra. An investigating officer said that they were collecting more details about the accused and would also record statements of the people mentioned in the now-deceased girl’s suicide note.
