Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Vice President for the South Kondwani Nankhumwa has been appointed as leader of opposition in the National Assembly.
The development follows the outcome of the fresh Presidential polls which saw former President Peter Mutharika losing the polls.
Speaker of the National Assembly Catherine Gotani Hara announced this on Monday afternoon when Parliament resumed after a two weeks break.
According to Hara, Nankhumwa will be deputized by Bright Msaka. While Simon Vuwa Kaunda is DPP Whip in the house and will be deputized by Mary Navicha.
In a related development, Minister of Homeland Security Richard Chimwendo Banda is now leader of the house.
