Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Central Region governor David Kambalame has been arrested for allegedly assaulting Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Secretary General Eisenhower Mkaka.
It is said that prior to the June 23, 2020 fresh Presidential polls, Kambalame attacked Mkaka while at a police unit in the capital Lilongwe where he went to report incident of ID collection by suspected DPP cadets.
The law enforcers then did not act because Kambalame was on the side of the ruling DPP under former President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika.
Kambalame is at Lilongwe Police Station.
