Former Member of Parliament for Karonga North Frank Tumpale Mwenefumbo who was also a runningmate to United Democratic Front (UDF) President Atupele Muluzi in the 2019 annulled polls has tested positive to Coronavirus.
Mwenefumbo who joined Tonse Alliance confirmed of the development in a statement posted on his official facebook page.
According to Mwenefumbo, he is currently receiving treatment at Kamuzu Central Hospital.
“My beloved friends , I would like to inform you that I have tested + for covid 19…and I am receiving good care at Kamuzu Central Hospital . I urge those that were in close proximity with me in recent 10 days to come forward and present themselves for testing to that we can halt the spread .
“My immediate family have all tested Negative and this should encourage you too. The number to call for COVID response is 0995165360…Thank you my friends & my God bless you all . #SYAY HOME & BE SAFE,” wrote Mwenefumbo.
Mwenefumbo has become the first politician to publicly disclose his status.
