Police in Blantyre have intercepted people who were trying to traffic about 25 children aged between 11 and 16 to unknown destinations.
Meanwhile, the Malawi Network Against Trafficking has attributed an upsurge in trafficking in persons cases to the outbreak of Covid-19.
According to the National Coordinator of the Network Caleb Thole believes more people are vulnerable to trafficking due to desperation as many companies have laid-off workers.
Last week, the South African police also arrested three Chinese nationals who had trafficked 25 Malawians to the rainbow nation through unchartered routes.
