The Maranchi Police Station SHO said that the injured woman’s son was busy chatting with his friends outside their house on Wednesday.  Despite being called several times for dinner, the accused remained out and continued chatting with his friends.

“As Manju Devi was about to step inside the main door after calling her son, Angad came from behind and shot her in the head from a very close range in a fit of rage for disrupting his conversation,” a report by The Times of India quoted the SHO as saying.

The incident was witnessed by Manju’s sister-in-law. Based on her statement, police registered an FIR against the accused and arrested him from behind the jungle area behind their house in the initial hours of Wednesday.

The SHO told TOI, “He was about to fire on the police also at the time of the arrest but his loaded pistol cocked.” During interrogation, the accused said that he had bought the weapon from Munger for Rs 7,500 around six months ago.
