President for the Association of Persons with Albinism in Malawi (APAM) Ian Simbota has asked government to build a factory that will produce sun screen lotion for Persons with Albinism in Malawi.

Simbota was speaking at meeting which the Minister of Gender and Community Development Patricia Kaliati had with Federation of Disability Organizations in Malawi Thursday in Blantyre.

He said the factory will help them to save money as they are spending a lot of money through importing the product from outside the country.

“The factory will also offer job opportunities to persons with albinism in Malawi. We are asking government to introduce the National Albinism Fund that will look into the welfare of persons with albinism as it the case with the National Aids Commission (NAC) and the National TB program,” he said.

He said that is optimistic that the Tonse Alliance government will try as much as possible to end the challenges they are facing.

In related development the Executive Director of (FEDOMA) Symon Munde has asked government to introduce a Trust Fund for persons with disability saying that currently they are discussing with the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs to put it into law in the next sitting of parliament.

He also said they are reviewing some of the policies with funding from UNDP that will be submitted to the Justice Ministry to take them to parliament to be enacted into law.
