Malawi’s First Lady Madam Monica Chakwera has promised to fight for the streets kids and girls who are forced into early marriages.

Madama Chakwera said this in an exclusive interview with Rainbow Television aired on Thursday night hosted by Chimwemwe Kujaliwa.

While highlighting the challenges that she passed through as a girl child who grew up in the village, Madam Chakwera hinted that she will continue running a foundation which looks after street kids.

“My passion is with the street kids. I have done so much to help and am happy that will do more. I have also interest in a girl Child, we need to do more in containing early marriages in the country,” said Madam Chakwera.

Madam Chakwera, an accountant and Social worker by professional, then asked Malawians of goodwill to pray for the first couple, saying heading the nation like Malawi is a daunting task.

“I will be very happy if Malawians of goodwill can put us in prayers. We are humans and we have shortfalls,” she added.

Turning to the leadership, Madam Chakwera promised to support Dr. Lazarus Chakwera as has been the case before.
