Two male inmates escaped from the isolation site where they are being kept and monitored for being found Covid19 positive.
The two whose there names are Jonathan Mughogho a convict and Chester Peter Chalira a remandee connived and managed to escape by climbing on the roof of a cell through the nearby water tank.
While they were on the roof other inmates who were inside the prison yard raised an alarm which prompted officers on duty to start chasing after them.
It did not take long before they were cornered with support from other were wishers trading around town.
Jonathan Mughogho 21 hails from from Mwafilaso village, T/A Kyungu in Karonga district and was convicted to 96 months after being found guilty of Robbery on two counts, Burglary and theft on other counts and the sentences are to run concurrently while Chester Chalira come from Madana village, T/A Mpando in Ntcheu district is answering Robbery with violence.
Meanwhile the two have been charged with escaping from lawful custody and will appear in court.
