Two former Minister in the reign of the immediate Past President Peter Mutharika have been implicated in the dubious recruitment at Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA), faceofmalawi can reveal.
Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Director General Reyneck Matemba disclosed this during a media briefing on Wednesday in the capital Lilongwe.
According to Matemba, the anti-grafting busting body has finished its investigations into the recruitment process of Revenue and Customs Officers at the Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) in April this year.
He said out of the 125 candidates that were announced to have been successful, 71 were not eligible but made it to the final list because some individuals he could not disclose played a role in the process.
Matemba also said that ACB found that two senior officers at MRA abused their offices in recruiting the unsuccessful individuals.
According to Matemba, on the list of 71,their investigations found that daughter to Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Regional Governor for the South, Charles Mchacha was there together with a relation to former Homeland Security Minister, Nicholas Dausi and a relation to one of the senior officer at the tax collecting body Steve Kapoloma.
The bureau has since recommended to MRA to recruit the 125 candidates that made it on merit.
