The number of total deaths due to Covid-19 in the country has risen to 161 following 4 new deaths reported in the last 24 hours.
According to the Presidential Taskforce on Covid19, 3 of the new deaths are from Lilongwe that occurred on 12th and 13th August and 1 is from Rumphi.
However, the number of recoveries is still on the rise as there have been 3 new recoveries which have placed the total recoveries at 2,626.
This also follows ne 46 Covid19 cases which are all from Blantyre.
The statement also indicates that 42 of these cases were identified during mass screening at Chichiri prison and four were identified at a triage tent at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital.
Cumulatively, Malawi has recorded 5,072 cases with 1,084 treated as imported infections and 3,988 as locally transmitted.
This now means there are 2,285 active cases after 39,214 tests in 45 testing sites.
