American mother-of-two, 23, found dead in Mexico with all of her teeth removed.
Lizbeth Flores, the fatally tortured woman, was found only a day after her mother reported she was missing, Daily Mail reveals.
On August 9, Lizabeth traveled to the Mexican border city of Matamoros. She told her mother, María Rubio, that she would return to her Brownsville, Texas home later that night. Reportedly, Flores was traveling to Mexico to visit her boyfriend. Unfortunately, this was the last time María heard from her daughter.
The following day, after not being able to contact her daughter for hours, María called the Brownsville Police Department. The concerned mother filed a report for a missing person, convinced something must have happened to her daughter, as she couldn’t reach her. Tragically, Lizabeth’s body was found only a day later, on August 11.
According to Matamoros police, the 23-year-old woman died from head injuries suffered after she was beaten with a rock that was found at the scene of the tragic incident.
Horrifically, her scalp had been removed, her body was covered in bruises, and her teeth were forcefully taken out.
In an interview with Telemundo, Lizabeth’s devastated mother said:
“Losing a child is like having your heart ripped out. I feel very sad for what they did to my daughter. How they left her is what pains me. The pain that my daughter went through there at that time is what pains me.”
In such a distressing time, Ms. Rubio is now forced to seek help from U.S. and Mexico officials to repatriate her daughter’s remains to Texas.
KRGV-TV reports that the FBI is also involved in the investigation because the murder happened in Mexico. As of Monday, August 17, no arrests related to the incident were made.
