The Comesa Hall and its surrounding has been painted in yellow as members of the opposition United Democratic Front (UDF) flock to the venue to participate in and witness the party indaba.

Among other guests who are in attendance are leaders from the non-governmental organisations, faith groups, members from other political parties and foreign envoys.

Civil Society leaders Unandi Banda and and Rafik Hajat are some of those steering the electoral commission which has been mandated to run the election.

According to UDF deputy Publicity Secretary Ken Ndanga four new positions will also be contested on and these are Directors of Youth, Transport and Logistics, Telecommunications and Information Technology, and International Relations.

All these positions will have two deputies.

Meanwhile, the arrival of Atupele Muluzi attracted a deafening debate from the delegates, unlike the arrivals of Moses Dossi and Ruth Takomana all of whom are contesting for the party’s chairmanship.

The convention is now underway, but has started with speeches and voting is expected to start anytime soon.
