The Malawi National Examinations Board (Maneb) says it cannot say now when it will have this year’s Malawi School Certificate Examination’s results ready.
Maneb’s Public Relations Officer (PRO) Gerard Chiunda said the board finished marking the papers but there are still some technical steps that have to be fulfilled before releasing the results.
“We cannot project now because we will be putting ourselves under pressure and we might also create anxiety in people. We can only do this (announce the results) after finishing some technicalities,” Chiunda said.
When asked why it is taking time for Maneb to release the results so that those who may be required to repeat should not be farther behind from their friends since the school calendar is already underway, Chiunda said everything is going according to plans.
“We are in time. We have not delayed anything. When you look at the calendar, there is an examination calendar and an academic calendar. Last year the results were released in December and it is okay.
“What we do is to see to it that all the steps are followed because we do not want to compromise on quality of examinations,” Chiunda said,
The examinations where written from June to July and, according to Chiunda, there are still other processes like data entry and assessment to be done before the release.
