United Democratic Front (UDF) has distanced itself from leadership squabbles rocking the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), saying the two parties no longer shares the same bed.

UDF Acting Publicity Secretary Yusuf Mwawa said this in an interview with the press.

According to Mwawa, the DPP,UDF alliance ended the day the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) declared Tonse Alliance torchbearer Dr. Lazarus Chakwera winner of the fresh Presidential polls held on June 23, 2020.

He said the party is now on rebuilding exercise in redness for the 2025 general election.

Mwawa said the only thing that DPP,UDF share in common is that the two parties are in opposition and will act as one block in the August House.

Immediate past President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika of DPP sealed and Alliance with UDF ahead of the fresh Presidential polls.

Mutharika picked UDF President Atupele Muluzi as his runningmate.
