Former Minister of Trade and Industry Salim Bagus who is also Member of Parliament for Chikwawa Central has dumped the opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).

Bagus won the seat on an Independent ticket and the then he joined DPP under former President Peter Mutharika.

Speaking in an interview with the press, Bugus said he has resigned from DPP on personal grounds.

Unconfirmed reports indicate that Bagus is planning to join Malawi Congress Party (MCP) which is in Tonse Alliance.

Bagus once served as Second Deputy Secretary General of MCP before the 2019 tripartite election.
