A married teacher, 33, had sex with a teenage boy, 15, and sent him nude snaps which were passed around other pupils, a court revealed.

The now 35-year-old teacher Kandice Barber claimed her account must have been hacked. She then denied the charges involving the teen, including abuse of a position of trust, Daily Mail reports.

However, the headmaster was said to have found out about Barber’s crime after topless pictures of her circulated around the secondary school in Buckinghamshire.

Aylesbury Crown Court heard that the teacher added the boy on Snapchat after she approached him at a school sports awards day. She then supposedly picked the teen in her car and took him to a field where she had sex with him.

The teacher, who is a mother of school-aged children herself, had had two other illicit trysts with the 15-year-old. She also sent him provocative pictures that were later spread around the school.

The prosecutor Richard Milne stated:

It all started at a sports evening on September 27, 2018, when she came over to him and asked to borrow his phone. She had possession of his phone, she put her details into his Snapchat account.

Things developed on her part by her sending him messages. She would tell him she was having a bath or a shower and then ask him if he wanted to meet. She had driven over, he got into her car, she asked for somewhere private, he suggested some fields. It was 5pm in the evening on a school day.

What’s more, after the illegal intercourse, Barber allegedly told the 15-year-old she might be pregnant with his baby.

According to the prosecutor, the teenage boy ‘was not proud of what happened’. The victim claims he didn’t have sex with Barber after he turned 16, explaining that she had proposed him a ‘special treat’ for his 16th birthday, but he refused. However, he admits the two had continued messaging for months. They only stopped because the school staff found out about their relationship.

When the teen first spoke to his headmaster, he denied having sex with his teacher. He later told a member of the child abuse team at Aylesbury police station that he lied because Barber had told him she was pregnant with his baby. The boy said:

“I lied because she had told me she could be pregnant with my child and I began to panic. I lied to pretty much everyone except my friends. She said that if I was going to snitch, snake on her basically, she was going to bring me down with her. I was like, are you going to accuse me of rape? She was like, dot dot dot. Obviously I got angry and I did not talk to her after that.”

The teacher was arrested on March 12, 2019.

During the interview, she denied having illegal intercourse with the schoolboy.

She also claimed that her pregnancy was widely known around the school. Although she, unfortunately, lost the baby, she said the father was her husband.

The following day, Barber admitted sending the teen a nude snap while speaking to a social worker. However, she insisted that he had befriended her first. She then continued explaining that she and her husband were going through a rough patch, and the boy had paid her attention, which led to her letting her guard down.

Kandice Barber denied all of the charges, including three counts of causing or inciting a child aged under 16 years to engage in a sexual act. She was also accused of sexual communication with a child, breaching a position of trust, and causing a child to watch a sexual act by a person in a position of trust.

The investigation on the case continues.
