Leader of opposition Kondwani Nankhumwa is this afternoon expected to respond to President Lazarus Chakwera’s State of National Address (SONA) he delivered of Friday.

Chakwera delivered his first inaugural SONA at Parliament Building in the capital Lilongwe during the opening of 49th session of the proceedings of the house.

Among others, Chakwera said he is committed to make the Anti-Corruption Bureau independent as a way of fighting and ending corruption in the country.

Adding to that Chakwera said his government will construct 193 houses for members of parliament in each constituency with an aim of ensuring that legislators are close to their people.

The SONA has been welcomed in different ways by people whom others have said it was empty while others said it carries the promises Tonse Alliance was built on.

As the proceedings of the house will commerce this afternoon, Nankhumwa leader of opposition from the main opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) will respond to the president’s SONA.
