Executive Member for Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) Macdonald Sembereka has advised the Tonse Alliance led government to fire public officials who abused of in the past government.

Sembereka said this today this morning during the coalition’s press briefing in the capital Lilongwe.

According to Sembereka mot of the public officials participated and permitted the abuse of office by the then ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) hence a need to act swiftly.

He added that the new reforms that are being overseen by the country’s vice president Saulos Chilima cannot be effective in the absence of boards for parastatals who supervise duties assigned to public officials.

Sembereka argues that most Chief Executive Officers for state enterprises will soon be replaced when boards are appointed.

He said this will render the current reform efforts unnecessary.
