The Parliamentary Committee on Government Assurances and Public Sector Reforms this morning met with the Vice President Dr. Saulos Klaus Chilima who is also Minister of Economic Planning and Development and Public Sector Reforms.
The aim of the meeting was to commend the Vice President on the ongoing efforts to transform the public service through reforms and to seek commitment to partner with his office on the reforms agenda.
The Chairperson of the Committee, Noel Lipipa said the Committee is ready to work with the new administration and is ready to receive reports from the Public Sector Reforms Unit for easier tracking and providing oversight in the long run.
Lipipa said the Committee was encouraged that the Vice President and his ministry are committed to transparency and accountability.
The Vice President has sought the support of the Committee to welcome proposed legislations that will be critical to achieving goals of the reforms agenda which are efficiency, effectiveness and professionalism in the public service.
