In a bizarre incident reported from a neighbourhood in the west of Chennai, a burglar was arrested after he fell asleep on the terrace of the house he broke into on Tuesday night.

According to the police, Prabhakaran, a Maduravoyal resident, works at a private firm. On Wednesday morning, he went morning he went to his terrace for workout and found a man sleeping there with a bag. Without disturbing the man, Prabhakaran opened the bag and found his valuables inside it. He then silently went downstairs and called up the police.

Subsequently, a team of police officials from Manduravoyal reached his house and arrested the burglar. Inquiries revealed that his name was Muthalagan. Deep in debt, Muthalagan, a resident of Kolathur, worked as a food delivery agent. He decided to commit thefts in order to repay the money he had borrowed.

He marked Prabhakaran while delivering food in the area. On Tuesday night, he broke into the house, stole valuables, but fell asleep at the terrace while leaving the house, which eventually led to his arrest. Police produced him in a local court which ordered to remand him in judicial custody.

In a similar incident, a 22-year-old man who broke into a house in Andhra Pradesh’s East Godavari to commit robbery dozed off in the comfort of an air-conditioned room during the course of his crime which eventually led to his arrest. The thief, identified as Babu, decided to take a power nap before leaving the house with the loot. However, the house owner woke up to his snoring and called up the police. Subsequently, he was arrested for the robbery attempt.
