The Malawi Police Service is expected to release a vacancy in the process of recruiting new police officers.
The minister for homeland security Richard Chimwendo Banda said this in Lilongwe on Thursday afternoon in an interview with reporters.
“The interviews that were conducted afew months ago have been cancelled due to some anomalies in the way the process was conducted, ” said Banda.
However the minister was quick to say that unlike in the past exercise where about 2,500 officers were expected to be recruited, the current exercise is focusing on recruiting at least 5,000 new police officers as one way of giving the youth an employment opportunity in this chakwera administration.
“The current regime will not tolerate abuse of power in the name of government and that anyone found on the wrong, the arm of the law shall take it’s course as the Chakwera administration is seriously abiding to the rule of law.
