Citizen For Transformation (CFT) has come out clearing the wind that has been blowing following the decision made by the movement’s Chief in Commander Timothy Mtambo to endorse Malawi Congress Party (MCP) ahead of by-elections slated for November 11, 2020.

In a press briefing held by the movement’s media team in the capital Lilongwe, CFT’s Media and Communication Strategist Negracious Justin said that Mtambo made the decision as an individual.

Mtambo has been seen going out campaigning for MCP candidates in Karonga Central and Mangochi West Constituencies ahead of the by-elections, the development which was not received well by other alliance partners specifically United Transformation Movement (UTM) sympathizers on social media.

According UTM social media team, Mtambo has lost his way.

Citizen for Transformation Movement (CFT) representatives are addressing the press in Lilongwe to clarify what has been happening as regards the by-elections slated for this month.

In his remarks Justin said CFT is a political platform that was formed to help in building a new Malawi and as such, beyond the political victory, the Movement must proceed in line with the country’s democracy hence no need to limit CFT as they are just acting within the law.

Justin said with the circumstances at hand, they will welcome any decision by anyone to leave the movement if they are not satisfied with what they believe in.

Following the cracks some members from CFT distances themselves from supporting MCP and opted to support UTM.
