Police in Lilongwe have arrested a 42-year-old man on suspicion that he killed his young brother over cooked beans.

The incident occurred on Sunday in Dzalanyama Forest.

It is alleged that the suspect, Solomon Mwenda, and his brother, 32 year old Stanford Mwenda, ( the deceased) went to the forest to burn charcoal.

A quarrel broke out between the two over cooked beans that was prepared by the suspect.

Their argument ended into a fist fight, forcing the younger brother to escape.

The suspect, however, went after Stanford and assaulted him with a hoe handle, leading to death.

Some villagers found the deceased body in the bush and reported to Chinsapo Police Unit.

The police took Stanford’s body to Kamuzu Central Hospital pending a post-mortem.

Meanwhile, the suspect has since been arrested to answer a murder charge.
