Main opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) central Governing Committee has fired Kondwani Nankhumwa as leader of opposition in parliament.

The committee held a meeting on Monday at the party’ president Peter Mutharika in Mangochi.

According to inner sources, Nankhumwa has been replaced by Francis Kasaila who is a Member of Parliament for Nsanje Central Constituency.

The sources continued that Mutharika himself has written to the Speaker of National Assembly.

There are indications that Speaker of Parliament Catherine Gotani will make an announcement later in the day.

Adding to that Mutharika said he is still reviewing the case of deposed Secretary General Grezielder Jeffrey.

Missing at the meeting were; Kondwani Nakhumwa, party’s vice president for the South, Grezielder Jeffrey and party’s Treasurer General, Jappie Mhango.

DPP is expected to make announcements on Friday at a news conference.

Spokesperson for the party Brown Mpinganjira is yet to comment.
