Commotion erupted in Dowa on Tuesday when angry villagers and Gulewamkulu stormed Bowe Police Unit to administer mob justice on suspected habitual criminal.
Mponela Police spokesperson, Inspector Kaitano Lubrino confirmed of the development in an interview with the press.
According to Lubrino, it all started when news broke out that Patrick Eneya, 26 was in police custody.
The villagers stormed the police facility demanding release of the suspect resulting to chaotic scenes.
Police had to fire teargas to disperse the angry villagers resulting to running battles.
